Welcome to a journey with Abigail's footsteps, a podcast about the difference this baby loss charity is making to lives across the country. Join Nicola Everett, a very proud ambassador of Abigail's footsteps, a charity that supports families at an incredibly difficult time in their lives, and provides specialist training to health care professionals. Sadly, in the UK, it's estimated that one in four pregnancies ends in the loss of a baby. Despite that figure, it's still something that many find difficult to talk about and families can face a wall of silence....we're hoping that this series of podcasts will break down that wall. Parents will be sharing their own experiences, which at times may be difficult to listen to, but we will also hear their inspirational stories of resilience and hope and how you can get involved in making a difference to so many amazing families.
AF004: Pregnancy loss support - A Dad's perspective
On episode 4, we listen to the poignant stories of Dad's, Jack Jeffrey, Tom Gower and Ryan Godolphin, who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby. They share their personal journeys navigating grief, anxiety during subsequent pregnancies and the struggle with societal expectations. Their experiences underscore an urgent need for increased recognition and tailored mental health support for bereaved fathers as well as the importance of self-care and prioritizing mental health in times of crisis. Later in the episode, Nicola speaks with Naomi Marston, a specialist bereavement counsellor and ambassador for Abigail's Footsteps.
